What are the principles behind the healthcare reform law?

Polls show that 75% of us are satisfied with our healthcare plans. But, there is no doubt that not everyone can afford health insurance today, and we want to fix that problem. However, we also want to stay within the framework of our Constitution, don’t we?

The government’s role in providing healthcare is usually met by establishing a framework for free markets which almost always provide for an abundance of services at an affordable cost. Is that your understanding of the Constitution? If so, then the bill just signed by the President is way out of the bounds, perhaps, with the Constitution.

For instance, it forces everyone to have health insurance. And, there are big financial penalties if someone doesn’t have it. This will be determined under the bill by having more IRS inspectors who focus on enforcement of the health law and collecting penalties for those who have no insurance.

Freerepublic.com also found, on page 29 of the bill, what they claim to be an admission that your health care will be rationed! On page 30, freerepublic.com claims that a government committee will decide what treatments and benefits you get and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process. According to the group, on page 42, the law says that the “health choices commissioner” will decide what health benefits you get. You will have no choice. None.

I suggest you find out what’s really in the bill for yourself and decide whether there actually is rationing of healthcare, as freerepublic.com claims. Isn’t it time for us to all become good citizens and scrutinize this bill to determine whether it continues to grant our Constitutional freedoms?
